| That Stopped the Dance Floor |
Saint Patrick’s Day is known for green outfits, festive parties, and lively celebrations. But for Jada and Eric, one Boston nightclub became the setting for a romantic proposal that would turn their Saint Patrick’s Day night into a love story they would never forget.
But the night didn’t start on the dance floor.
It started earlier that afternoon in Honey’s salon, where Jada was getting ready for what she thought would be just another Saint Patrick’s Day party in Boston.
She had no idea the night was about to change her life forever.
Getting Ready
“Jada, I’m surprised you actually let me try this fire green wig on you,” Honey laughed as she adjusted the final curl. “Normally you stick to your natural colors.”
I studied my reflection in the salon mirror while she fluffed the emerald waves around my shoulders. The color was bold… but somehow it worked.
Honey had been doing my hair for five years now—ever since my family moved to Boston. She was always experimenting with colors, especially around holidays.
And in Boston?
Saint Patrick’s Day wasn’t just a holiday.
It was practically a citywide celebration.
“Girl, I’m daring sometimes,” I said with a grin. “Plus my bae is taking me to Icons tonight for the Saint Patrick’s Day party. I said why not?”
Honey spun around doing a little celebratory dance.
“Yesss! I can’t wait. I got this beautiful green dress I’m wearing tonight!”
I burst out laughing.
“Girl I can’t with you. The only green I’m wearing is my hair.”
“I know that’s right,” she snapped her fingers. “You can’t overpower the look.”
“Exactly,” I nodded. “If your hairstyle loud, everything else gotta chill so it balances.”
Honey pointed dramatically.
“Girl who you telling! Some people be doing too much. They’d have green shoes, green dress, green eyeshadow, green purse… snapping pictures talking about ‘Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!’ looking like a whole green bean.”
We both fell out laughing.
But when Honey finally spun the chair around so I could see the finished look…
I had to admit.
That green wig was surprisingly fire on me.

A Quick Call From Eric
The cool Boston air brushed against my skin as I slid into my Tesla and started the drive back toward my condo in Beacon Hill.
My phone lit up on the dashboard.
FaceTime.
Eric ❤️
I smiled instantly.
My boyfriend Eric was twenty-three and played power forward for the Celtics. Tall, brown-skinned, athletic, with a smile that could make half the women in Boston forget their own names.
We’d been together since my senior year of high school.
Back when moving from Sacramento to Boston felt like the worst thing that could ever happen to me.
My dad had accepted a major promotion as Director of Basketball Operations for the Celtics. My mom already worked for the NBA as Director of Mental Health & Wellness.
Both of them had amazing careers.
But sixteen-year-old me?
I was devastated about leaving my friends behind.
Funny how life works though.
Because Boston gave me Eric.
And the life I had now.
I had gone viral back in the Vine days, then YouTube pranks, then TikTok. By seventeen I had millions of followers and brand deals rolling in.
College could wait.
Right now?
I was living.
My phone buzzed again.
Eric’s face appeared on the screen.
“Hey bae,” I said softly.
His eyes widened immediately.
“Whoa hold up… Jada you look GOOD. I like that color on you.”
I laughed and tucked the emerald waves behind my ear.
“Thank you.”
“I just wanted to be the first one to see you tonight,” he said quickly. “I’ll pick you up around seven. Still at practice.”
Then he grinned.
“I love you girl.”
“I love you too,” I laughed as the screen went dark.
That man never had time to talk.
The Party
Later that night, Icons nightclub pulsed with energy.
Green lights flickered across the ceiling while people danced shoulder-to-shoulder on the packed floor. Laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses filled the room.
Eric stood beside me in a dark green Celtics bomber jacket, a crisp white True Religion T-shirt underneath, and distressed True Religion jeans.
His gold Jesus piece rested against his chest.
A gold Rolex flashed under the club lights.
His arm wrapped around my waist like he had no plans of letting go.

“You good?” he asked, leaning down toward my ear.
“Perfect,” I smiled.
The DJ had been blasting hype music all night.
People jumping.
Dancing.
Singing every lyric.
Then suddenly…
The music faded.
The DJ chuckled into the microphone.
“Aight Boston… I think it's time we slow things down for the couples.”
A few playful boos mixed with cheers.
Then the opening chords floated through the speakers.
“Let’s Get Married.”
Eric pulled me closer as the dance floor shifted from hype energy to soft swaying couples.
His hand rested gently on the small of my back.
We moved slowly together.
The noise around us faded.
The Proposal
“Jada,” he said softly.
I looked up at him.
His expression was different.
Serious.
But warm.
“You know you been my girl since we were kids… since your senior year.”
I smiled.
“Yeah.”
“I remember the first day I saw you in that hallway,” he continued. “That green jacket you had on. I thought… yeah. That’s the one.”
I laughed softly.
“You are so dramatic.”
“Maybe,” he shrugged. “But I’m serious about you.”
His thumb brushed gently against my cheek.
“You believed in me before I even made it.”
My chest tightened.
“Eric…”
“I already talked to your dad,” he said.
My eyes widened.
“You did what?”
He stepped back.
Then slowly dropped down onto one knee.
The entire dance floor gasped.
Phones popped up everywhere recording.
But in that moment?
It felt like the whole club disappeared.
Eric opened a small velvet box.
A diamond sparkled under the lights.
“Jada… you’ve been my best friend, my girl, my peace… my everything.”
His voice softened.
“So tonight I’m asking you something simple.”
He smiled.
“Let’s get married.”
My hands flew to my mouth.
Tears blurred my vision.
“Yes,” I whispered.
Then louder.
“Yes!”
The entire club erupted.
Cheers.
Clapping.
The DJ shouted into the mic.
“Boston we got an engagement tonight!”
Eric slid the ring onto my finger and pulled me into his arms.
The music kept playing.
And we danced together in the middle of the crowd.
Just like that…
Saint Patrick’s Day became the night our forever began.
But the real journey is just beginning.
Family opinions.
Busy careers.
And all the beautiful chaos that comes with preparing for forever.
Saint Patrick’s Day is often filled with celebration, music, and festive green decorations, but for Jada and Eric the holiday became something even more meaningful. Their romantic proposal story reminds us that sometimes the most unforgettable love stories begin in the middle of an ordinary night.
💬 What do you think Jada and Eric should do first plan a big celebrity wedding in Boston or have a small private ceremony?
And should their wedding happen this year… or should they take time to enjoy their engagement first?
